The district covers an area of 5,330 hectares with a population of over 100,000. The density of population averages out at 1,987 people per square kilometer. There are lots of well-known scenic spots and natural wonders within the district. They are Reed Flute Cave, DuXiu Peak, Banyan Lake and Fir Lake, West Hill, Peach Blossom River, Lotus Lakes. Within the district there are downtown central square and crossed street square, Niko Niko Department Store, Wangcheng Department Store, Walk Street and other commercial establishments, Sheraton Hotel, Ronghu State Guest House and other hotels, the Bank of China and 4 financial institutions and post general office, Guangxi Normal University, Guilin Medical Institute, Guilin Library and Li River Theatre.

The policy of reform and opening-up has effected many changes in the district economic development. There are 1,000 enterprises that are owned by the district, of these over 90 are mainstay enterprises. A comparatively comprehensive industrial system in all categories with food additive industry as its pillar has been set up within the district.

On the approach of 21st century, XiuFeng District shall continue to give full play to its geographic advantage and strive to develop a sound investment environment. It shall take opportunities of China’s accession to WTO, The Greater West Development Strategy and on-going urban reconstruction to develop its commercial and service industry, travel industry, sightseeing agriculture and hi-tech industry and build a new district with well-equipped infrastructure, highly developed economy, beautiful environment, social stability and prosperity in Guilin City.
